Companion & Hero Missions

All Companion & Hero Missions in STAR WARS Zero Company

A Hero Mission is one step in an Operator’s story, not a contract you can pick up later. This page follows each Operator from the Operation that starts their chain to the Mission that ends it, and shows what advancing the campaign would change about the ones you have not done yet.

Quick warning

Companion Missions are optional — that does not make them permanent

  • Every one of the 11 Hero Missions in the shipped campaign data carries an expiration fact, which means the campaign can take it off the board.
  • What the data does not state is the number of Cycles. That is why this page prints "can expire" and never a countdown.
  • A Mission that has been removed is gone for that campaign. A Mission you advanced past because the board was full is the same outcome.

No generic numeric mission-expiration duration field was recovered from the selected assets. Do not infer per-mission cycle deadlines except where an asset explicitly encodes a one-cycle objective.

Which Companion Are You Following?

Pick an Operator and the page drops you on their chain. The list is generated from the Hero Missions in the shipped data, so it grows the moment a new Operator-authored Mission exists.

Overview

Companion Mission Overview

The question this table answers is not “what exists” but “what is left for this Operator”. Tick Missions in the tracker and the table follows you.

Unlock

How to Unlock Each Companion Mission

Every Hero Mission is gated by something the campaign records: the Operator being in the company, an earlier step, a named Operation, or the main story arc that references it. The card above lists which of those the data names.

Unlock diagnostic

Everything on this page is campaign data, not your save. Tick the Missions you have finished in the tracker and this section turns into a real answer about what is still missing.

Where the chain map comes from

  • Mission requirements and follow-up relationships from the 123-mission dependency graph.
  • Prerequisite Operations and roster-state facts from the same records.
  • Den conversation unlocks and the main-story arc that references each activity, from the campaign control flow.
  • Expiration facts from the timing layer. No Cycle count is attached to a Hero Mission anywhere in the package.

Chains

How Companion Mission Chains Work

A companion chain is not “Mission, Mission, Mission”. It runs through Operations and Den conversations as well, and each Operator's shape is different.

Operation

A named prerequisite step that has to resolve first. Some are Operations the shipped records name; one reference is unnamed in the data and stays unnamed here.

Mission

The Hero Mission itself. It carries an expiration fact, and usually its own outcome reward.

Talk

A Den conversation the campaign unlocks around this step. It is where the next step of the story is handed over.

A conversation is a chain step even though it is not a Mission. It is where the campaign hands the next Operator step over, and it happens at the Den rather than on the Holotable.

Timers

Companion Mission Timers

Hero Missions use the same board timers as everything else, but the page will not invent a number for them.

Exact windows

The shipped package contains no generic per-activity expiration duration. Two campaign objectives are the only activities that state an exact window, and neither is a Hero Mission.

So a Hero Mission here is labelled "Known to expire", never "Expires in 2 Cycles".

Unique content at risk

10 Hero Missions combine an expiration fact with a story outcome or a follow-up Mission.

That combination is the reason a Hero Mission outranks a generic contract for the Cycle it is on the board: the contract can be replaced by another contract, the story step cannot.

Consequences

What Happens If You Miss a Companion Mission?

Four separate things can be lost, and they are not equally serious. Each Mission card lists its own.

The Mission

Removed from the board for that campaign. Nothing re-offers it.

The follow-up

A later Mission that names it as a prerequisite cannot be started.

The conversation

The Den conversation tied to the step does not happen.

The generic payout

Equipment and the standard payout have equivalents elsewhere. That part is replaceable.

Missing a Hero Mission is not the same as losing the Operator. The data links a roster change to a specific Mission and a specific outcome, so that warning only appears where a Mission carries it — never as a blanket rule across the roster.

Constraints

Can You Complete Every Companion Mission?

Not safely in every campaign state. The board is built to be bigger than the Cycles you have, and companion content sits on that board.

You are not meant to finish every Companion Mission in one campaign

  • The campaign deliberately puts more timed activity on the Holotable than the remaining Cycles can hold. Companion Missions are part of that board, not an exception to it.
  • So the honest answer to "can I do both?" is: not safely in every campaign state.
  • Two Companion Missions can be on the board at the same time as Critical or Coil activity. Where the board forces a choice, the choice is between the two unique pieces of content — not between a Companion Mission and nothing.

Some apparent clashes are scheduling problems rather than forced losses. A chain started earlier, or a generic contract deferred, can clear a window that looked impossible. The planner below is built for exactly that.

Put the two Missions side by side. The page prints the facts it has and describes which one fits the goal you pick — it does not declare a winner.

Buy Cheap, Never Sleep

Buy Cheap, Never Sleep has no outcome reward tag, so the story stake sits with the conversation step rather than the Mission.

Kith and Kin

Kith and Kin carries a named outcome reward, so the branch you play here is the version of the story the campaign keeps.

Trade-off

Companion Mission vs Critical Mission

A Critical Mission is campaign progress; a Companion Mission is one Operator’s story. They only look like equals until the campaign forces one of them.

Companion Mission or the next Main Mission

CompanionUnique Operator story, possible follow-up Mission.

The other sideCampaign progress that everything else checks for.

A Critical Mission that has to be launched is not a preference. When the campaign enforces it, the Companion Mission is the thing that moves.

Trade-off

Companion Mission vs Coil Crisis

Both sides of this one move the campaign. That is why the page refuses to name a winner here.

Companion Mission or Coil activity

CompanionUnique character content and the chain step it guards.

The other sideEnemy and campaign-state consequences that the Coil layer tracks.

Neither side of this is free. The page shows the specific state each one moves — it does not decide for you.

Trade-off

Companion Mission vs Credit Contract

Generic work is what you reach for when the roster needs Credits. It is not automatically the wrong answer.

Companion Mission or a generic contract

CompanionContent that exists once, and the follow-up it unlocks.

The other sideCredits, resources or reputation that another contract can also produce.

Unique content has fewer replacements than a resource payout. If the run is short on Credits for treatment, the contract is not automatically the wrong pick.

Required Operators

Required Operators & Injuries

A Hero Mission needs its Operator deployed. Treatment time is the part of that the page can actually warn you about.

Treatment conflict

If the Medbay has the Operator for a Cycle and the Mission carries an expiration fact, the two can finish each other. Set the Operator's condition in the planner and it appears as a treatment conflict.

Difficulty changes what that risk looks like: where the campaign setting disables Bacta, instant recovery is not an option and bed time is the only route back into the roster.

Injury limit

Sending an Operator who is already at the injury limit into a Hero Mission trades their story for the content that follows it. The planner flags that as a review-now case rather than a recommendation.

Follow-ups

Timed Follow-Up Chains

When the Mission a chain leads into also carries an expiration fact, starting late compresses the window the next step gets.

  • Buy Cheap, Never Sleep (Kabb Uppercut)

Carries an expiration fact → unlocks Kith and Kin (timed)

  • Distress Call (Jae Mordant)

Carries an expiration fact → unlocks You Can't Go Home Again (timed)

  • Best Served Cold (Cly Kullervo)

Carries an expiration fact → unlocks Without Honor or Humanity (timed)

  • Lord of Betrayal (Luco Bronc)

Carries an expiration fact → unlocks No Kings, No Masters (timed)

4 of the 4 chains that continue end in a Mission that carries its own expiration fact. Starting the first Mission late compresses the window the next one gets — the page cannot tell you by how many Cycles, only that the risk is real.

  • 4 chains are in the review-now band at once (Cly Kullervo, Jae Mordant, Kabb Uppercut, Luco Bronc). If they sit in the same window, the board — not this page — decides which one you keep.
  • This planner reduces avoidable misses. It cannot promise every companion activity on every campaign path, because the campaign is built to leave content behind.
  • Treatment and injury state are the player’s input here. Nothing on this page reads a save.

A safer way to schedule Companion Missions

There is no single correct order — the arc you are in, when the chain started and who is injured all move it. What follows is a way to check the board, not a route.

  1. 01Check the chain, not just the cardTake the Hero Mission whose completion opens another timed Hero Mission before the one that ends a chain.
  2. 02Check the second OperatorA Mission that belongs to two Operators (Trick and Luco, for example) does double duty for one slot.
  3. 03Check the required OperatorThe Mission needs a named Operator deployed. Treatment that runs into the window is the same as missing it.
  4. 04Check what the campaign is about to forceA Critical Mission that has to be launched outranks a preference, not a fact.
  5. 05Defer generic contracts firstWhen unique content is at risk, a Credits or resource contract is the replaceable half of the board.

FAQ

Companion Mission FAQ

The questions players actually arrive with, answered from the same data as the rest of the page.

What are Companion Missions in STAR WARS Zero Company?
Companion Missions are the Hero Missions authored for a specific Operator. The shipped mission data tags them as hero missions and names the Operator they belong to, which is why they read as a character story rather than a stand-alone contract.
What are Hero Missions?
Hero Mission is the game’s own category for this content: it sits alongside Main Story Missions, Optional Missions and Crisis Missions on the board, and it is the category that carries an Operator name.
How many Companion Missions are there?
11 Hero Missions belong to 6 Operators in the shipped data: Kabb Uppercut (2), Trick (2), Jae Mordant (2), Cly Kullervo (2), Luco Bronc (2), Tel-Rea (2). Every one of them is a published page on this site.
How do you unlock Hero Missions?
Three things appear in the data: the Operator has to be in the roster, a previous Hero Mission or a named Operation has to be completed first, and the campaign arc that references the activity has to have been reached. Each Mission card lists the requirements the data actually names, and marks the ones it does not.
Why is a Companion Mission not appearing?
Tick the Missions you have finished in the tracker on this page. The page then tells you which named prerequisite is still missing for each locked Mission. It cannot check your save, so an empty tracker gets an honest "not tracked yet" instead of a guess.
Can Companion Missions expire?
Yes. All 11 Hero Missions in the shipped data carry an expiration fact, which is what lets the campaign remove one from the board.
Can Hero Missions be missed permanently?
A Mission removed by the campaign does not come back in that campaign. That is the whole reason the board forces choices, and it applies to Hero Missions exactly as it applies to Optional Missions.
Do Hero Missions show a Cycle countdown?
No. The shipped package contains no generic per-activity expiration duration, and the only two activities that state an exact window are campaign objectives, not Hero Missions. This site therefore labels every Hero Mission "Known to expire" and never prints a Cycle count.
Can you complete every Companion Mission?
Not safely in every campaign state. The board regularly holds more timed activity than the remaining Cycles, so two Hero Missions, or a Hero Mission and Critical or Coil activity, can compete for the same advance. Some clashes are scheduling problems you can plan around; others are genuine losses.
What happens if you miss a Companion Mission?
The Mission is gone, any Mission that names it as a prerequisite cannot be started, and the conversation step tied to it does not happen. Generic rewards on it are replaceable; the story step is not.
Does missing a Companion Mission make the Operator leave?
That is not a rule the data supports. A roster change is attached to specific Missions and specific outcomes — the page shows "Operator availability" only on the Mission that carries that reward state, and never as a blanket warning across the roster.
Do Companion Missions affect Bonds?
Every Hero Mission in the data carries a Bond reward. The page lists which Operators the Bond is with, and the Bond page has the relationship detail.
Do Companion Missions unlock abilities?
Not in the shipped reward data. The Hero Mission rewards resolve to story outcomes, Bond rewards, equipment, XP, Focus points, Capacitors or Influence — no ability grant is attached to a Hero Mission.
Do Hero Missions have follow-ups?
4 Hero Missions are named as the prerequisite of another Hero Mission, so finishing one is the way into the next. The chain view on each Operator block shows exactly where the next step comes from.
Do I need to talk to companions at the Den?
The campaign unlocks Den conversations for these Operators around their chain steps, including after Hero Missions. The conversation is where the next step is handed over, so returning to the Den is part of the chain rather than an optional flavour scene.
Should I do Companion Missions immediately?
Do the ones whose window you cannot see. A Hero Mission that carries both an expiration fact and a follow-up Mission is the strongest case for spending the Cycle on it, because both halves are unique.
Should I delay a Critical Mission for a Companion Mission?
When the campaign has made a Critical Mission mandatory, there is nothing to weigh up: it has to be launched. Plan the Companion Mission around the forced step rather than against it.
What if two Companion Missions expire together?
The comparator on this page puts the two side by side — timer evidence, unlock step, outcome reward, follow-ups, Bond and reward categories — and describes which one fits the goal you pick. It deliberately does not declare a winner.
Can I do both Trick's and Luco Bronc's missions?
No Kings, No Masters is one Mission that belongs to both chains, so one Cycle can move two Operators at once. Whether the windows actually line up depends on your board, which the planner is there to check.
Does healing an Operator make me miss their Mission?
It can if the treatment occupies the Cycle the Mission needed. The planner flags that as a treatment conflict, and the Injuries page covers what treatment actually costs in time.
Are Companion Missions required for achievements?
No achievement record on this site links to a Hero Mission, so the page cannot claim one is required. If that changes in the data, the achievement column will say so.
Which Companion Mission should I do first?
There is no fixed order. Start from the chain: the Mission that opens another timed Mission is worth more than the one that ends a chain, and a Mission shared by two Operators is worth more than either.
